Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, maintain, and support data processing applications using Apache Spark and Java or Python.
Build scalable ETL and data transformation pipelines for large datasets.
Analyze requirements and collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, technology groups, and stakeholders.
Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance, including Spark performance tuning.
Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices.
Contribute to application modernization, migration, and automation initiatives.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and analysis while validating the resulting work.
Identify vulnerabilities and security issues and conduct application testing and debugging.
Serve as an advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts.

Requirements

5–7 years of software development experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark.
Proficiency in Java or Python; Python-focused candidates should understand Java fundamentals including object-oriented programming, collections, exception handling, and basic multithreading.
Experience with SQL and relational databases.
Understanding of distributed computing concepts and big data processing.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and application performance optimization skills.
Experience with Databricks, cloud platforms, modern data engineering practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Git is preferred.
Knowledge of regulatory reporting or the financial services domain is a plus.
Familiarity with data lake architectures and AI-assisted developer productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot, Devin, or Databricks Assistant is preferred.
Ability to critically review, validate, and optimize AI-generated code and identify functional, performance, security, and maintainability issues.
