Backend Developer - Java/Python & AI in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Java and/or Python.
  • Build, integrate, and enhance AI-powered workflows and automation solutions within enterprise applications and business processes.
  • Develop REST APIs, backend services, and system integrations connecting applications, AI capabilities, and business workflows.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Devin for coding, testing, debugging, and productivity.
  • Manage technical deliverables from design through implementation while collaborating with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Maintain code quality, solve complex technical problems, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Ideally 6+ years of hands-on backend development experience using Java and/or Python, with equivalent technical expertise considered.
  • Solid understanding of backend architecture, REST APIs, microservices, system integrations, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Practical experience creating, integrating, or automating AI-powered workflows within enterprise applications and business processes.
  • Familiarity with Large Language Models and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, or equivalent platforms.
  • Ability to manage technical deliverables, solve complex problems, adapt to unfamiliar technology environments, and learn new technologies effectively.
  • Preferred experience includes lending, structured finance, securitization, banking, capital markets, regulated financial services, generative AI, AI agents, LLM integration, or AI workflow orchestration.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $92,000–$118,000 CAD annually.
  • May be eligible for an annual discretionary or variable bonus.
