Advanced DevOps Games Software Engineer in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Unreal Engine game clients, backend services, and tools.
  • Automate build, deployment, and environment management across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions for scalable and repeatable environment management.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve build stability, uptime, and environment-health issues.
  • Collaborate with gameplay, backend, and tools engineers to eliminate Unreal Engine workflow bottlenecks.
  • Manage version-control integrations and branch strategies for stable release cycles.
  • Implement monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions for proactive service reliability.
  • Drive test automation, rollback strategies, release governance, and continuous deployment improvements.
  • Define and track engineering KPIs including build success rate, environment uptime, and mean time to recovery.
  • Promote DevOps practices, testing methodologies, automation, and reliable workflows across the studio.
  • Mentor team members and advocate for continuous improvement in automation and DevOps processes.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software development or DevOps engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
  • 3+ years of programming experience with C++.
  • 3+ years of experience developing automation for large-scale or live-service environments.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud providers, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, version-control workflows, and monitoring systems.
  • Experience with Perforce and/or Git version-control workflows.
  • Strong understanding of networking, security practices, and environment isolation.
  • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine and its build and development ecosystem is desired.
  • Experience with multiplayer or live games, artifact management, distributed caching, CI parallelization, secure software development, secrets management, automated security scanning, and console or PC game build pipelines is a bonus.
  • Desire to mentor engineers and passion for automation, developer enablement, reliable systems, and continuous learning.
