[8NW] Senior Backend + Data Engineer in Remote

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement reliable, scalable backend services and data pipelines.
  • Build and maintain data ingestion services using APIs and batch file processing.
  • Modernize legacy, manual, and spreadsheet-driven workflows with automated systems.
  • Develop internal dashboards and services that provide real-time operational and business visibility.
  • Create automation for manual investigation and internal self-service.
  • Improve monitoring, alerting, observability, performance, security, and data quality checks.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues and contribute to system reliability.
  • Collaborate with product, analytics, and operations teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Contribute to technical direction and roadmap planning.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience with demonstrated backend development and data engineering proficiency.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Proficiency with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, with PostgreSQL preferred.
  • Proficiency in Snowflake or a similar data warehouse tool.
  • Experience deploying and managing applications using AWS.
  • Experience with CDK, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools.
  • Ability to design scalable, reliable, and high-performance distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture patterns, microservices, and REST and GraphQL API design.
  • Working knowledge of security fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, and secure service design.
  • Experience with unit testing and integration testing.
  • At least B2-C1 English proficiency, described as 90%+ written and oral English, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and lead technical efforts across teams.
  • Preferred: experience with Apache Airflow or similar data pipeline and orchestration tools.
