Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize Visual Studio Code extensions and plugins.
  • Build developer productivity tools and workflows within VS Code.
  • Develop extension features using TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js.
  • Integrate extensions with REST APIs, backend services, AI services, and developer tools.
  • Build automated CI/CD pipelines for extension development and deployment.
  • Containerize applications with Docker and manage deployments with Kubernetes.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate build, release, and deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoot extension, debugging, and developer-environment issues.
  • Implement unit testing, integration testing, performance optimization, and code-quality practices.
  • Document architecture, APIs, and development guidelines while collaborating with product managers, architects, and engineering teams.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to scalable software architecture and enterprise developer platforms.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of software development experience.
  • Strong expertise in TypeScript, modern JavaScript, Node.js, Visual Studio Code Extensions, and the VS Code Extension API.
  • Experience with Language Server Protocol and Debug Adapter Protocol.
  • Strong knowledge of Git and version-control workflows.
  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, infrastructure automation, and shell scripting.
  • Experience with REST API integration, authentication using OAuth and JWT, unit testing, and software architecture.
  • Preferred experience with C#, .NET 6/7/8, ASP.NET Core Web API, .NET CLI, MSBuild, Roslyn, and NuGet.
  • Preferred experience with Azure or AWS, AI-assisted development tools, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI or other LLM APIs, Electron, YAML, Terraform, and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with IDE plugins or extensions and publishing extensions to the VS Code Marketplace is desirable.
  • Open-source contributions, enterprise developer-platform experience, and strong debugging, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills are preferred.
  • B.E. or M.Tech qualification.
